The American way and the Flemish way would be indeed Van Hiefte if you say it right the ij is not used in English and in many act the variation between Van Hyfte and Van Hijfte is difficult to see sometime the ¨ is not clear and then it becomes Van Hyfte.
Always look at acts above and under to see how the klerk wrote the acts
as well in French, Flemish and Latin.
