Thermia, Greece is not on the map. In what area is it? The attached document will give you U.S. records to search for the village of origin and original surname. When you get the specific villages, then you can get to the proper district in Greece to ask for records.

Since I renew my grandfather's genealogy in a month (I hope), is Thermia located in Ottoman Greece? And are you fluent in Greek? And a hint start backwards from your mother

I don't know where Thermia. This is where my mother said her mother was born. Maybe a small town on an island? What little info I have was from my mother who is still living. She speaks fluent greek but I do not.

Debbie, you will have to find the villages in U.S. records because you have to know the exact location in Greece. Records there are kept by locality, and there is no central database. Please read the document I uploaded and check all U.S. records to find the villages.

I searched for a while and I found that Thermia was also an alternative name for the island of Kithnos. There was also a village called Thermia in Cyprus, now in the occupied part of the island.
