August is born to unmarried maiden Anette Alfsen 24 years old. The said to be father is bachelor, sailor Amund Pedersen.

Thank you so much Shari had figured out that she was unmarried but did not know that father was a sailor! Am presuming the names in the column to the right of the parents are the godparents? If possible could you help with these names? seems like Hansen, Pedersen, Olfsen but way not sure about this and their first names

It's difficult to tell because of the hidden area in the binding. ?ethe Hansen, Frederikke Christensen, Syvert Pedersen, Marti?us Olsen.

The underlined word is an address, not a farm (apologies).

Working backward we have been able to find August  (KGYQ-ZXL) probably staying with Cornelius Jensen (

LH38-Q8T) as a foster son (august Alisander Amundsen)other records show him on his own as a barber-it all makes sense he was a barber in US, birth dates match, named his first son Cornelius and family story is that he stayed with family when his parents went to US for gold rush(of course we know how truth is stretched to avoid reality-maybe that was what August was told or what he told my grandfather or maybe my grandfather was the one to alter info as he did about August's death saying it was an accident rather than suicide. Thinking though there is a good possibility that the part about staying with family is true-working on finding a connection Interesting from DNA-have been able to isolate Amundsen side one match leads to possible Amund Pedersen Mahlum( KFGZ-LQN)

DNA match has name as Amund Pedersen Aspehaug Mahlum but data matches also possible duplicate Amund A Mahlum (GS1F-K2F)birth don't match but all else does

Also found Anette's info on family search some time ago( MFHS-B2B). Thanks to you I now have several more pieces of the puzzle to help me in my quest!

@CFMills a map is always a great tool. Did you see the letter and number "K6" following the Grunerløkka? This could be for Korsgata 6 at Grunerløkka. I want to give credit to Kåre Kjøllesdal for helping me with this information. Clipboard03Clipboard02Clipboard01

Some possibilities for Amund Pedersen. Notice each is a matros (sailor).Clipboard04
