Find Birth Record

Axel Christian Andersen, christened 21 March 1799 in Dvaergetved, Hjørring, Danmark. I don't have much information on him. I have on him and I am trying to find out what is correct and who is parents are. It shows that his father is Anders Axelsen and his mother as Bertha Maria Neilson Christensen Axelsen. The mother doesn't seem correct. I have no records just a name that shows up on Family Search

Here is Axel (note different last name) in the 1801 census with his widowed mother, she is 40 years old.

Hjørring, Horns, Tolne, Dverretved By, , 24, FT-1801,

Maren Andersdatter  40  Enke  Moder  Med jord

Axel Christian Christensen  2  Ugift  Søn

Following patronymics would give him a father named Christen, not Anders.

There are no sources attached to Axel Christian Andersen in FamilySearch. I believe this is a possible error.

According to the military leving roll, Axel Christian Christensen, son of Christen Axelsen was born 7 February 1799. See #G113. https://www.sa.dk/ao-soegesider/en/billedviser?epid=16481031#18222,1036781

Here he is on the roll in 1803. #G113 https://www.sa.dk/ao-soegesider/billedviser?bsid=18301#18301,1061882

Everything about his family seems off. Do you have a link for the 1801 census?

I can't determine a mother (probably not named) but the father is seen underlined, Christen Axelsen. Most of the records are indicating the name of the father and then just says "and wife".

Wow! Never would have gotten that. Is the 1801 census the closest census?

No, the URl will not lead you to the indexed record. Here is original 1801 census, see them on #24. Maren and Axel. https://www.sa.dk/ao-soegesider/en/billedviser?bsid=27023#27023,2913445

Maren will be in the 1787 and possibly 1834 if she lives that long, it's possible.

The military rolls are a wonderful tool, you can read about them in the FS wiki, but I'm happy to share what I know. A male goes on the roll (at this time period) close to their birth, the father is named, a place is given for residence. Then a record is kept every three years for these individuals and so they can be tracked until they are too old for duty, deceased or released from their duty. I can continue to "follow" Axel if you wish but I hesitate to take up space here for each entry. This is a great method to follow the correct individual when you have men by the same names.

This image #103 is Axel in 1821, he's still in Tolne after a brief time in Albek. He's 63 3/4 inches tall. He's living in a village called Børsholt (in the Tolne parish).https://www.sa.dk/ao-soegesider/en/billedviser?epid=16481031#18366,1075661

I have followed Axel through the year to 1836 and he is still on the roll in Tolne as a married 36 year old. This is solid evidence it is the same individual.

Hjørring, Horns, Tolne, Dvergetved, et huus, 29, FT-1834,

    Axel Christian  35  Gift    indsider

Maren Chrestensdatter  35  Gift    hans kone

The same couple in the 1840

Hjørring, Horns, Tolne, Fælsig, et Huus, 62, FT-1840,

Axel Ch. Christensen  42  Gift    Huusmand lewer af sin Jordlod

Maren Christensdatter  42  Gift    hans Kone

    Christen Christensen  63  Gift    Aftægtsfolk

Maren Andersdatter  87  Gift    Aftægtsfolk   (it is possible this is his mother but the age isn't an exact match with the 1801 census)

     Maren Christensdatter  61  Enke    Inderst

1845 Census the same family, and look at that. Maren Andersdatter is 93 years old. I think she is the oldest person I've seen in Denmark.

Hjørring, Horns, Tolne, Felsig, et Huus, 83, FT-1845

Axel Kristian Krestensen  46  Gift    Huusmand lever af sin jordlod  I sognet

Maren Krestensdatter  46  Gift    Hans kone  Skjerum sogn, Hjørring

    Maren Andersdatter  93  Enke(mand)    Aftægtskone  I sognet

Kirsten Madsdatter  5  Ugift    Pleiebarn  Aasted sogn, Hjørring

Kirsten Marie Larsdatter  20  Ugift    Tjenestepige  Mosberg sogn, Hjørring

This image shows the final record for Axel #27 on the roll, it is 1842 and he is being released from duty. There were 16 record images in total. https://www.sa.dk/ao-soegesider/en/billedviser?epid=16481031#18453,1099308

1848 death record for 99 year old Maren Andersdatter. I don't know if this is Axel's mother but is a possibility. https://www.sa.dk/ao-soegesider/en/billedviser?bsid=409651#409651,75899688
