In 1943/5my father George Edward Bacon b. 1906 Whilst in the Royal Air Force when stationed in Denmark, fathered a male child with a Danish woman, the only location i have is a photo of him with a photographers address on the back Skals, Denmark,

Would records of that time show fathers surname, his liaison with this lady was very friendly, and they kept in touch for a while after the war but i have no records, my parents divorced and my mother destroyed any correspondence. Thank You, Tony Bacon

I'm assuming George Bacon is not a German name so he would not have been in Denmark until May 1945 at the earliest?

Unless he was there in some kind of secret role with the underground but if that's the case he would not have his name entered at the christening of his child?

I looked through the Skals, Viborg church records and saw nothing 1945 through 1947.

This seems a case where DNA might be really valuable. You have a half-brother who never knew his father and that's the kind of person who is quite inclined to look into his family history. Get the test wherever you like but be sure to submit your result to My Heritage because they have by far the biggest Scandinavian database.

I assume you know nothing more about the Mother? No name for her?

Clifford, thank you for the response, i think from memory (i was 8yrs. in 1945) that he was involved in repatriating displaced people, yes he was in the English RAF., a bit more memory tells me the name of the lady was Neilson, but i also know that the name is popular in Denmark , so i will take your advice and try DNA Thanks aggain , Tony
