Looking for original images that James N Arnold transcribed to compile: "Vital record of Rhode Island, 1636-1850, first series, births, marriages and deaths : a family register for the people".

Found both on Ancestry and FamilySearch. No details given on how to view originals:

@appetersen appetersenhttps://www.familysearch.org/wiki/en/Rhode_Island_Vital_RecordsGreat question as many of us have used Arnold for decades without going to the original records. Of course in the old days (think 10 years ago) we would have had to go to Rhode Island or Salt Lake at least to see the originals. You want to see the original town records that Arnold index to make his books. Here is a link from the Research Wiki here at FamilySearch that discusses vital records in Rhode Island: https://www.familysearch.org/wiki/en/Rhode_Island_Vital_Recordshttps://www.familysearch.org/wiki/en/Rhode_Island_Vital_Records

If I was you I would go to the catalog at FamilySearch (in the drop down for Search in the menu ribbon at the top of each page.) Search for the specific town you want to search in Rhode Island. When the results are presented choose Vital Records from the list and see what is available.
