Implementation of Dark Mode

The option of a dark mode for all of FamilySearch has been mentioned before, and I hope the idea is still on the table. I have created my own version, and it has a few glitches, but ever since I started using it I've been using FamilySearch a lot more. I'm sure there are other users that would appreciate the feature as well.

I probably am not up to date but I have no idea what a "dark mode" might be Could you explain in more detail what you are talking about and what features not present in the current system would be implemented in "dark mode".

    .

Just thinking 'out aloud here' ...

    .

Perhaps, like the "Invert Colours" Option in the "Pedigree" Views ...

    .

    But ...

In this case (ie. IDEA) ...

    .

The WHOLE of "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch'; or, even, the whole of 'FamilySearch'.

    .

    Just my thoughts.

    .

    Brett

    .

ps: I am, neither, for or against - just as long as there is an option to chose either.

gasmodels, Dark Mode is a feature that is being supported by several operating systems at present. Some applications give you the ability to turn this on. Some people prefer this mode for various reasons. A good overview is given here:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Light-on-dark_color_scheme

Although it is sometimes referred to as "Night Mode", it should not be confused with what on some systems are referred to as "Night Shift". In Night Mode, colors and intensities are inverted on some parts of the screen to reduce the total amount of light coming from the screen. In Night Shift, the color temperature of the screen is shifted from a cooler (over 5000° K) to a warmer (3800° to 4600° K) value.

Thanks for the education on the suggestion of the original poster. I personally like the current setup but would have no concern if an alternative was offered.

I would adore a dark mode here. The white on the site hurts my eyes badly and gives me headaches. I use a dark mode web extension but it is not perfect and inverts the pictures and causes some thing to not work correctly (such as this text box, I had to disable dark mode to use it as it went to the wrong area of the screen and I could not move it.) Please give us a dark mode option to get rid of the painful white.

I just came here to say that a Dark Mode would be awesome. I'm happy that I found this thread dealing with this already. It's so tiring to work on FamilySearch for long periods starring at the bright white color, it kills our eyes. Please, FamilySearch team! It shouldn't be so hard!

Familysearch, will you please make this a priority? The eye pain is real. I can't bring myself to work on familysearch anymore, but used to be on it for about 20-40 hours a week. Right now, I have my screen brightness all the way down, and my blue light filter all the way to the red end, but it's not fixing the problem. Please help us!!!!!! Bless you for your work.
