This is introducing errors into these records. Not what we want.
How do I delete the incorrect spelling???

None of the response to the above are helpful -- for example, my family name "Benington" has been spelled in my family as I've typed it, for genearations.

The spelling of it as "Bennington" with a double N, a variation perhaps in different branches of our distantly connected family, is one that sounds more phonetically correct. (Personally, I think that its past clerks and record keepers rather than family members who often made that change!).

So... the problem is that many of the source records for my branch of the family use the double-N, although I know that's not how I/we spell have spelled our name. Thus, I'm not sure what to do then when people who are not directly connected to my branch of the family keep submitting records with that double-N, which then also shows up on Family Search as a duplicate and wrongly spelled name and record!
