    .

"Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch' is TOO Large.

    .

There are well OVER 1 BILLION individuals/persons in "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch'.

    .

IF, you have not already; THEN, go to the "Solutions Gallery' of 'FamilySearch'.

    .

The best option is to use one of the "Third Party" Application that are "Certified" to work with "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch' to do so.

    .

The "Third Party" Application that are "Certified" to work with "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch' can be found in the "Solutions Gallery" of 'FamilySearch'.

    .

Here is a direct 'link' to the "Solutions Gallery":

    https://partners.familysearch.org/solutionsgallery/s/

    .

There are, both, 'On-Line' websites; and, 'standalone' (personal) computer programmes.

    .

Many of the "Third Party" Application that are "Certified" to work with "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch' have, both, a FREE version; and, a Subscription (ie. Paid) version, the latter just having more 'bells and Whistles'. The FREE version is generally good enough for most Users/Patrons.

    .

A number of the "Third Party" Application that are "Certified" to work with "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch' can "Download" your "Ancestral" lines from "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch'.

    .

And, some of the "Third Party" Application that are "Certified" to work with "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch' can interface (ie. literally, talk with - share information between) with "Family Tree". You can literally work in the "Third Party" Application; and, not need to access "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch'; as, the "Third Party" Application liaises directly with "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch'.

    .

Plus, you can use one or more (in fact, as many as you like) of the "Third Party" Application that are "Certified" to work with "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch'. Your choice, Take you pick.

    .

    Enjoy.

    .

Many User/Patrons use, BOTH, "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch'; and, (still) maintain their own private/personal Database of their "Ancestral" lines on one or more of the the "Third Party" Application that are "Certified" to work with "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch'

    .

    I hope this helps.

    .

    As an aside ...

    .

We do not have our OWN "Tree" in "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch'.

    .

We ONLY have "Branches" (ie. "Ancestral" lines; or, "Pedigrees'), that are interconnected, in this SINGLE "One" World "Tree", for all of us, that is "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch'.

    .

"Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch' is NOT other "Websites"; and/or, 'standalone' personal programmes.

    .

We DO NOT have "Private"/"Personal" 'Trees' in "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch' like other "Websites"; and/or, 'standalone' personal programmes.

    .

We do not even, own; or, manage; and, are NOT even responsible for, the "Deceased" individuals/person in "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch'.

    .

"Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch' is built on a "Open Edit" Platform - hence, why any registered User/Patron can "Edit" (ie. Add, Delete; and/or, Change) ANY "Deceased" individual/person in "Family Tree" of 'FamilySearch'.

I use RootsMagic to sync with FamilySearch. Initially, you can just import however many generations up and however many generations down (from each of those ancestors too) into RootsMagic. Then every week, you can run the FamilySearch changes protocol to see what changes have been made on your end or FamilySearch and update accordingly. There are other programs out there too that you can use, but imo RootsMagic works best for me.

I suspect that that capability will never be provided by FamilySearch who have already begun building to the newer GEDCOM-X standard. Also the current GEDCOM standard doesn't handle sources and other documentation very well.

If you ab solutely HAVE to have a GEDCOM, get the free version of RootsMagic or Ancestral Quest and download all the records you want to your PC. You can then generate a GEDCOM file from one of those applications.
