p p said: Please, could it be possible to have an affiliate library in Gerona (Spain), where I can see the restricted online records...??? The nearest way for me to get access to them is travel to Barcelona (1 hour to go and another hour to come back...): it is impossible for me.., and I am sure there are other people in my condition!! Your job is great and I am always thankful, but Gerona is an important capital of province with over 100.000 inhabitants itself, and it would be great to have access here to the records. Thank you in advance, and greatful for your time!

A van Helsdingen said: I've found that the list of affiliate libraries on the FamilySearch Wiki is not complete. Until December the closest affiliate library was about 45 minutes away from my house, but then I found out there is one just 15 minutes away that is not listed on the Wiki. So you could try contacting libraries or genealogical societies in Gerona and ask whether they are a FamilySearch Affiliate Library.

This article explains how a library can become a FamilySearch Affiliate Library: https://www.familysearch.org/blog/en/...

JimGreene said: Dear p p: Could you help us as we investigate what can be done in Gerona? Please identify any public libraries or genealogical society libraries in Gerona that might be willing to be an affiliate library. And if possible the name of a person from that library who we could contact. Having the introduction from someone who lives there is often times better than calling on them from out of the cold. You could email it to me directly: [email protected]

    Thanks!!

I have no contacts in the area and already posted messages in the municipal web page, with no results so far. The library seems to be ‘permanently closed’ (according to that same page) and that seems odd, not sure what it really means...

Spain, which has the world's second most cases in the world, saw its outbreak quickly escalate after cases soared in Italy, and with cases and deaths declining, officials are now relaxing some parts of the strict distancing measures that kept people indoors for all but essential trips.

A van Helsdingen said: This is a bit out of date (Spain no longer has the 2nd highest number of cases or deaths), but clearly visiting libraries and public places in Spain is still going to be restricted for some time to come.

Tom Huber said: Heh. I'm not laughing at your response but the fact that we are now in June and the article was published on May 2nd.

Age is definitely impacting my thinking that May 2nd was in the current month...

Thanks for mentioning that the information is out of date on the ranking of the most cases and deaths.
