Humm, I agree that more needs to be done to protect good data from those who are careless or unknowledgeable, but I am not sure how this helps overall, it seems to also limit those who know how to improve the genealogy. That’s just my first take on hearing of this.

I had someone falsely accuse me of "destroying" their family records by simply removing duplicate marriage dates.
This behavior is about anyone else changing "their" tree. The quality of change is irrelevant: any change by someone else is bad. They are newbies and there are YouTube videos instructing them to watch "their" tree for changes and to be loudly, aggressively upset by changes.
FamilySearch needs to help newbies climb the steep learning curve that Family Tree is, not to enable or entrench antagonistic behaviors. Apparently that job has been put on us here.
