    Hello Cheryl,

You wanted to know why FamilySearch is listed as reserving the ordinance.

Reserved ordinances automatically expire on the date listed on your family names list. After that, they are shared with the temple, and other people can reserve them.

While it can be frustrating to see one of your temple reservations expire, keep in mind that the newly available ordinances are a great opportunity for other members of the Church wanting to perform temple ordinances for their ancestors. The process works like this:

    1. Three weeks before the reservation expires, FamilySearch sends a message stating that the reservation is about to expire.
    2. The day after the expiration date, the ancestor's name is shared with the temple or removed from your reservation list. If you have already printed a family name card, you will receive a FamilySearch message that the reservation has expired.
    3. Once the ordinance is shared with the temple, other people can reserve it for 90 days. It is available through both Family Tree and Ordinances Ready.
    4. Eventually the temple prints the family name card. At that point, the ordinance can no longer be reserved.

We hope this answers your question.

Your question will be forwarded to a specialty team for review and resolution.

You may be contacted by that team if they need to gather more information

Please watch for a red dot to appear next to the small envelope in the upper right corner of your screen which will indicate you have received a message

    Hi @ Cheryl Brown Wilkey,

Because this is green you can select to do the ordinance, but you have to do it within 90 days, then it will be returned to the temple.

The card will change colour from green to a temple picture and a blue indicating, meaning that the card has now been printed by a temple. It cannot be recalled.

From KA. Can I reserve an ordinance that has been shared with the temple?

Reserving an ordinance that has been shared with the temple does not require any special steps. View the person's ordinance information as you normally would on either the FamilySearch website or the Family Tree app. If a particular ordinance displays a green temple icon with a clock, it can be requested. If the ordinance has a blue temple icon, it cannot be requested.

    IconMeaning

Family Tree Temple Icon 90-Day Reservation

When you reserve an ordinance that has been shared with the temple, your reservation expires in 90 days.

If you are unable to complete the ordinance within 90 days, the ordinance returns to the temple.

    Family Tree Temple Icon Reserved

If the ordinance cannot be requested, it shows a blue temple icon. Here are some reasons why you are not able to reserve the ordinance:

The temple has already printed the name card.

Someone else already reserved the ordinance after it was shared.

Ordinances that come before, such as baptism and confirmation, have not yet been completed.

    Hope this helps.

I am aware that I can reserve the ordinances shared with the Temple. My question was why FamilySearch was showing as having shared this with the Temple. I know that 2012 and 2014 there were records that were migrated from another source and that is why FamilySearch shows but why in 2019?
