Support Missionaries
Just wanted to THANK all of those "service missionaries" who act as moderators in the community - as well as other roles!!
Its nice to see people who give back to the genealogical community - and are out there to serve others and not just focused on their own interests.

Just a question:
The missionaries that take group leader roles in the GROUPS section of Community - - - do they come from the same team (same "umbrella" group) as the missionaries who serve as moderators on QA / IDEAS? who is it that actually trains both of these groups?
How can non LDS who have extensive genealogical knowledge as well as willingness - be able to work in the community effort similar to the ways that LDS service missionaries do? or even LDS who for various reasons cant serve as official Service Missionaries?

my question was more for those who cant serve an official LDS mission.
would be nice to see more "inclusiveness" in those who serve in the community - and allowing NON LDS to share their talents and skills as well.

We welcome and encourage active participation from anyone on the Community platform, whether Latter-day Saints or not. In fact, one of the main reasons for the increased promotion of the Community platform is to encourage all users to collaborate and support each other, rather than depending solely on the limited number of available missionaries. So, your participating and sharing your knowledge and experience here is much appreciated - Thank You!
I'm less familiar with the Groups section of the Community, and who sets those up and provides training, but perhaps @Caleb L could provide further insight on that.

Can non LDS server as moderators?
Can non LDS serve as Group Leaders in the Groups?

I do get the impression most of the current volunteer moderators - have little experience/training in the GROUPS section - - I totally understand their main assignment is fielding questions in the Q/A area and many of them are new.
but I would still highly recommend moderators browse the GROUPS section and understand the very basics - of how to find a group, how to join a group, and how to leave a group
all very helpful in fielding questions that people will have.
seems like it is a totally disjoint set of people taking leadership roles in GROUPS though as compared to the other areas of community.

Before COVID our Family History center had non LDS assisting our "Director" in various capacities.
There is nothing stopping more experienced non LDS researchers from Holding Zoom workshops to assist those needing help with research or other fields.
I noticed that you also posted ideas for all people to get involved with, so that is great thank you
There are plenty of opportunities to get involved, all one needs to do is look around. We are in a technological age and many good things are at our fingertips.

You mentioned we need more training about "groups"(?), besides the hours of training on Groups we already have received. To see what we see enter "community groups" in the search window of our Help Center.
I see 8 articles for Community Groups. Bonus; there are lists of different types of Community Groups added to the list.

as to the HELP Center - - I note the articles about Community Groups were written way before the NEW community application was even set up.
HELP CENTER is NOT very helpful - if it has articles that are way outdated.
