Should I delete names taken from the Occupation column in this batch?
I started deleting all of the names the indexer used on this page that weren't in the name column, but then I got worried since they seem to actually be names of owners. Please help me make the correct decision. You can see I have deleted several, and I will continue to delete, or I will index the names back in, since I am second guessing myself on this one.
Thanks so much

Hello. You are doing a great job! The batch number I believe you are working on is [M3HL-6K4]. For me, this is the easiest way to identify your batch (the 7 digit code at the end of the title of the batch). Anyway, I had a look and you should delete Entry 9 - Cotting, Entry 10 - Welch, and Entry 11 - Gardiner. I believe this is in line with the Project Instructions that tell us to index only those names in the Names column. Perhaps the original indexer was a little confused by all the names on the image and where they appear. I was a bit confused at first, too.
Thank you for your dedication to reviewing these important records and for your desire to do them correctly and thoroughly.
Best!

Names in the Occupation column should not be indexed as we do not know what those names are.

I can see the confusion and would second guess myself too! The instructions do say to Index each unique name and all names except those in the owner or remarks column, UNLESS the names only appear in an Owner column - then you do index the names in the owner column. Clear as mud. In essence, these instructions only say not to index names from the Remarks column. They say nothing about a name in the occupation column.
- Index each unique name. Some names may be duplicated. When names are exact duplicates, index only the first instance of the name listed. Skip the other exact duplicates and then index the next unique name. Unique names include names with different middle initials and different name spellings.
- Index all names except those listed in the "Owner" or "Remarks" columns, or names of companies or trusts. Often, names of owners appear on the right side of the image; these names should not be indexed. If the only names on an image appear in an "Owner" column, please index the names in this column.
It also doesn't make a lot of sense not to index names of trusts since they could be an individual's trust account with their name.
