Rules for temple work for ancestor

I have an uncle who died in 1958. He had a wife and 2 year old daughter at the time. All his temple work is completed except being sealed to a spouse. His spouse at the time lived until 2011, remarried and had other children.

I would like to do his spouses temple work and have them sealed together. I am assuming, and I would like clarification, that I need their daughters permission to do that temple work. I am not sure exactly what the rules are in this situation.

Thank you for your concern for your uncle. And your desire to seal him to a spouse. If the spouse to whom he was married is now deceased, and if he was born within the last 110 years. (After August 16 1911 ) then you will need (verbal) permission from a (closest) living relative.

The closest living relatives are an undivorced spouse (the spouse to whom the individual was married when he or she died), an adult child, a parent, a brother, or a sister.

Once you have that permission, since you are related to the deceased, you may put in a request for his ordinances.
