Good Evening,

I found a book that is on microfilm. How do I find out if it is possible to get a copy?

Thanks,

Dawn Christenson

    Welcome to the "Community.FamilySearch" Forum.

    I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...

I do not know about a Whole 'Book' ...

    But ...

    As an aside ...

Can I suggest that you try the services available through the Family History Library (FHL) of the Church, 'Temple Square', Salt Lake City, Utah, USA.

Hi @Dawn Christenson. Brett provided some good general information about finding books, however, it is so helpful to those who wish to assist you when you provide details about what you wish to find. You mentioned you want a copy of a specific book. Does that mean you want to purchase a copy of a book to own it, or are you simply wanting to view the information in the book?

We would like to help determine the status of the book which you have indicated is on microfilm which may mean it can be found in the FamilySearch Digital Library. Often you can check to see if a book is available for public viewing, or if it is protected by going to Search, then to Books, to type the name of the book into the search field for the Online Digital Library. The following knowledge article from our Help Center explains how to search in the Digital Library.

    https://www.familysearch.org/help/helpcenter/article/how-do-i-find-a-digitized-book-in-the-familysearch-digital-library

If you wish to have us check for the status of anything you find at FamilySearch, please provide exact information such as the title of the book, the name of the author, or the microfilm number that you have found. This information will allow us to do additional investigation on your behalf. We still welcome specific information about your concern if you wish to respond to this post with the title, the author, the microfilm number, or even the URL where you see the book listed. We hope this information is helpful.
