After commenting on a topic here, I would like the option of Unfollowing the topic. I prefer fewer notifications.

    Hello @dontiknowyou,

There is a way to change which notifications you receive in the Community.

    1. Click your photo icon in the top right corner.
    2. Click Edit Profile.
    3. Click Notification Preferences.
    4. Click the boxes to check or uncheck items.
      1. If you click Email or Popup at the top of the list, it will check or uncheck all of the items in that column.
    5. At the bottom of the list, click Save Preferences.

Yep, I have done all that. I still get the red notification count on the bell in the upper right corner and in my Notifications list. I want to be able to stop those on a per-discussion basis. Many discussions go on tangents that do not interest me.

Did you initially click on the bookmark icon in the upper left corner of the original post? If you did, you can go back and un-click it and you should stop getting notifications for that discussion.

I rarely use the bookmark. I will try bookmarking and then unbookmarking and see if that helps.

    Just a thought ...

There are, NOW, a lot of "Preferences", for "Notifications", in the "Community.FamilySearch" Forum.

There would be quite a few, of the "Preferences", for "Notifications", that would need to be "Un-Check".

And, one would need, go through them; and, be very selective.

@Brett . you have merely restated what @bathompson already suggested and I already explained was not relevant.

    @dontiknowyou

    FYI

There are considerably MORE, "Preferences", for "Notifications", in the "Community.FamilySearch" Forum, than there used to be. For example, the 'Bottom Half', that being "Categories Followed" (and, of course, "My Groups"), is reasonably new.

    And ...

    Furthermore ...

As far as, I was aware, "Un-Checking", of a Number, of those "Preferences", for "Notifications"; specifically, under, the 'Top Half', that being "General", WOULD do what you require.

Well, such has been the case, for me.

The "System" seems to work reasonably well, as far as I can ascertain.

    Just my thoughts.
