Indexing Tax Records
I am currently indexing Georgia tax records. There are names listed as agent for/trustee for and then their names listed. Do I index both names? Also, the ones I have worked on so far do not have dates, or any other information on the entry form other than the name. Do I still index them?

The project instructions might help you decide what to index. If not, then you should share the batch so someone can see what you are seeing. To share a batch, provide the link or batch code. The batch code is the series of letters and numbers that follow the project title.
- Index all tax records and military tax records, even if there is only a name to index.
- Indexes are images with only a name and reference information, such as page or volume number, with no other information, such as dates, available. Indexes should be marked as No, No Extractable Data.
- Index each unique name, but do not index the name of the district captains for military tax records. Some names may be duplicated. When names are exact duplicates, meaning that all required fields are the same, index only the first instance of the name listed. Skip the other exact duplicates and then index the next unique name. Unique names include names with different middle initials and different name spellings or where the other required fields are different.
- If multiple names were recorded on a single line, or in multiple columns, create a separate entry for each name. Create separate entries for employers and freedmen on military tax forms.

Yes. Index both names.
Do not index the district captains name.
Some of the more recent batches have another document on the image that gives a date.
Remember to use * when multiple letters are undistinguishable and ? for single letter. Some of the batches are poor quality and part of the name is missing. Use the * or ? for these not unreadable.

My question was do I index both names on an entry such as

@Colleen Kinsey Moline I would say yes you do since they want you to index each unique name, except for the name of the district captains on military tax records.

Should the names of adjoining land owners be indexed?

@McKeaJohnWallace1 , It is difficult to answer your question without seeing the batch. If you would like to share the batch code, it the sequence of letters/numbers in the brackets after the title.
If the names of adjoining land owners are in the remarks column, then per the project instructions they wouldn't be indexed. "Do not index information for people listed in the remarks column, or the names of companies, businesses, organizations, or government entities. Businesses may be identified by an ampersand (&) between 2 surnames. Do not index the term or abbreviation for "agent," "executor," "trustee," or "exor." "
