Getting permission for temple ordinances when family tree shows no relation

My young friend, Karissa Lee Taylor #L1FG-2Q9, died last August and I have permission from her mother to complete her temple work. When I click the "I have permission" it then asks if we are related. From there it tells me we have not relation on family tree and will not allow me to proceed. My husband and I adopted her baby prior to her passing. How do I proceed to get past this screen and show who gave permission.

Hello @Becky Powlus
Please review the knowledge article about requesting proxy temple ordinances for a friend: https://www.familysearch.org/help/helpcenter/article/can-i-request-proxy-temple-ordinances-for-a-friend
According to the instructions, you will need to have signed, written permission from one of your friend's close living relatives. The article includes the wording that the written permission must contain.
If you haven't already done so, another thing that you will need to do is add your friend's living parents and any spouses to Family Tree. The names of these living individuals will be viewable only in your private space. Because you are the adoptive parents of Karissa's child, you might want to show that child as her biological child and also as your adopted child. This way, the administrators who review your request will be able to see the connections that tie you closely to your friend.
While the knowledge article doesn't state how to contact FamilySearch, when you are ready to proceed you are welcome to reply to this post in Community, or telephone support (1-866-406-1830). A telephone call directly to FamilySearch support may provide you more privacy. We can also private message here in Community, if you choose to proceed here.
