sealings to parents or spouse when one of the parties doesn't have their initiatory oendowment done.

For instance 9JBJ-KZV and 9JBJ-K84. Are we to do their sealings even though for instance the husband doesn't have his temple work complete?

During the old extraction program, when marriage records were extracted and sent in for ordinance work, just the couple sealing was done, nothing else. From the 1994 date, that is probably what occurred here.

This topic had been discussed over and over on the old getsatisfaction boards and the direction we got from FamilySearch employees, including Ron Tanner, can be summarized thus:

    1) If you go to the temple to do sealings and are given a list of names by the temple, you do the sealings without having any idea of whether preceding ordinances were completed. If they are names still left from the extraction program, they probably were not.

    2) If you use Ordinance Ready to get names for sealings, we are to do those sealings given to us. We do not need to check to see if the preceding ordinances are done.

3a) If we are doing our own relatives that we are researching, we are to do all ordinances in the proper order with all necessary B/C/I/E completed before sealings for all the people we are authorized to do temple work for, that is our direct ancestors, any descendants from those direct ancestors, and their spouse.

3b) The only exception is the sealing to parents for a spouse of a collateral relative. We are to complete the sealing so that spouse's work is completely done, but we are not to do any ordinances for the parents of that spouse because we are not related to them.

Ordinances done out of order are valid, but are not in force until the preceding ordinances are completed.

Great information. Didn't know about your 3b. Always stopped after their Endowment was completed. Will need to go back through spouses and do sealings. Thanks again for this great explanation and information.

#2 and #3 are contradictory. I'd like to see Ordinance Ready Program only have names that all names vien have all the ordinances done
