Ordinances done for person with the wrong gender

Baptism, confirmation, and initiatory done for Albert Bradbury (b1880) 96XQ-V3D has this person as a female. The General Register Office in England indicates that this person was recorded as a male at birth. This person would be Albert Bradbury (b1800) G839-HY9. I cannot merge the two because they are the opposite sex. The female record should be eliminated. What happens to those ordinances? Do they transfer or are they eliminated when this person is deleted? Thanks for any help.

You can change the gender of a profile to enable merging.

Hi FamHistFellow
We have invalidated the ordinances for the female Albert Bradbury (b1880) 96XQ-V3D despite a Births and Christening source indicating her as Female. The 2 sources for the male Albert Bradbury (b1800) G839-HY9 confirmed that is an error.
So - you can change the Sex in the Vitals section and then merge the two records.
The ordinances do not transfer and we see that you have the male version of Albert's ordinances already underway.

Hi @FamHistFellow,
It looks like the ordinances for Albert Bradbury 96XQ-V3D have not yet been completed which is good since that is the record that has listed this individual as a female by mistake. According to the article from the FamilySearch Help Center, "How do I correct the sex listed on a person's record in Family Tree?", it reads that "Family Tree allows you to edit the sex of a person. " Here is a copy of the steps to edit a sex of a person from that article: Steps (website)
- Navigate to the Person page of the individual for whom you want to correct the sex.
- Click Details.
- In the Vitals section, for the sex, click Edit.
- Click the correct sex.
- Enter a reason statement to explain why the information is correct. If the existing reasoning is applicable, leave the existing explanation, and add your own comments.
- Click Save.
Once you have changed the sex from female to male for the Albert Bradbury 96XQ-V3D record, then you will be able to merge the two records for Albert Bradbury. Here is a link to the article from the Help Center that will walk you through the steps of merging the two records by using their ID numbers:
It looks like you have already reserved the ordinances for the Albert Bradbury G839-HY9 record. Once the two records are merged, your reservation will remain on the final merged copy. Here's hoping this information will be helpful.

Just to summarize what was answered above and to include what was not answered so you have a completely clear response:
Correcting and merging in a situation like this is something you can do completely on your own. The current function of Family Tree allows this and Support does not need to be involved or do anything for you as they did at one point several years ago.
When you change the sex of a person in Family Tree, any ordinances that are then invalid are automatically hidden away and any ordinances now needed are available to be requested. So the process you could have followed and can is the future is:
- Change Albert 96XQ-V3D from female to male.
- Merge Albert 96XQ-V3D into Albert G839-HY9.
The ordinance page takes care of itself very nicely. Sometime it can take minutes to hours for it to update properly, however. So if you merge and everything says "Unavailable," just refresh the page a couple of times or check back later.
It would be a good idea to go into any birth source that shows him as female, which I assume in an indexed record since those can have all sorts of interesting errors, and add a note as to the error in it.
