Cannot open Messages in new tab from Person pages

Has this always been the behaviour, or is there a bug?

Currently, I can only open Messages from https://www.familysearch.org/, https://www.familysearch.org/search/, etc. From these pages, the Messages box appears without losing the main page and "Show All Messages" can then be viewed (via right-click) in another tab.

Whilst on a Person page, the only option (without losing the page being viewed) is to open the Messages image (icon) in another tab/window.

I would be grateful if this could be checked-out.
