Tech support please: How long to wait?

I uploaded a clipping to a Source in my Source Box. It has been in Screening for 5 hours now.

How much longer should I wait before cancelling and starting over?

Okay, the first upload attempt went into limbo. Next attempt, as a Memory on a person page, gets an error message about a duplicate. This is a job for technical support.

go to your general gallery area - to find the file that has been duplicated

note the option above that says "select from gallery" - use that to find the same item that has already become part of your gallery.

You can never upload a single item more than once to FS

Once it has been uploaded already - and you then want it to hook it to a person - then you must use the "select form gallery" option seen above.

This is what I believe happened:

Sometimes you will be doing an upload - and the system generates some error, or ends up in some endless "looping circle" icon - when in actuality - the upload was indeed successful - but for whatever reason the system was not able to generate a message to the user to indicate that .

THEN the person tries again and gets a duplicate error - due to the fact that unbeknownst to them - the item was actually indeed uploaded - though maybe didn't get linked to the desired profile - (and can be found in the general gallery) which you can link from - by choosing the "select from gallery" option.

again - one item can only be uploaded once - across your entire gallery - and you can see ALL of your uploads by going to the gallery area in your memories tab or by choosing "select from gallery",

sometimes items that you thought didn't get uploaded - actually were (but maybe didn't get linked to the profile you were trying to link to)

Unfamiliar with the term "Screening". Precise meaning is not required. You want to know how long it might take, and how long to wait before taking action.

Can you upload a small portion of the clipping? Best solution.

Next, consider whether you are putting it in the wrong place. It sounds like a memory to me. In my experience, using a memory to create a Source[ Citation] is easier than using the Source Box. I don't know for sure how reused Source Box sources are store. However, using a Memory only stores the item once, with reuses using pointers. Reusing a Memory requires making a Bookmark and using that to attach the memory again.

In any case, it depends on the file size you are transferring and speed of your internet connection. Calculation is tricky and prone to error. Do a test. How long does it take to upload a file 1, 2, 4, or 5% as large as what you are uploading. A quick estimate is easy after that.

What I am talking about is PID: Sources: Add Source: Attach From Source Box: Create Source.

There, the option is given to upload a file. I uploaded a 682KB image file. As usual I then wait for it to be screened. I presume screening reduces the number of uploads of inappropriate images.

Anyway, now the Source Box system is down. Technical difficulties on FS end.

    I wouldn't wait more than 24 hours.
