Ordinance not available before 1500?

I had a question regarding a woman in my tree, Anne Shirley, PID: 29WH-CCX. It says "This person was born before A.D. 1500. The ordinances are probably already completed," and I wanted to get a little more information on that if I could. Anne was born before A.D. 1500, but we were wondering why it was likely the ordinances were already done. My wife felt prompted to look into Anne a bit more, and we'd like to do the research/ordinances if they haven't been finished. Any information we can get would be appreciated. Thanks!

    Hi Taylor

As stated, many of the ordinances have already been completed. Here is an article which explains that more and covers what you should do to request the ordinances. If the link below doesn't work for you. go to FS or community, click on the ? in the circle at the upper right, select help center and search for "Can I do ordinances for people born before AD 1500"

    Taylor,

Here are a few more things to think about.

It’s often hard to prove the facts when people were born that long ago. If you look at Anne Shirley's page, you will see that there are no sources for her.  The only source on her page is a Legacy source which was Ancestral File, and Ancestral File is not a valid source.  All it proves is that someone created a tree and submitted it to Ancestral File. Without a historical record of some kind, a tree from somewhere else means nothing.

Also, according to Anne Shirley's page as it is now, her mother was 8 years old when she started having children, and she had 8 children by the time she was 18 years old.  And if you go to her mother’s page, you can see there are duplicates for her and for her husband, Ralph Shirley. If they truly are duplicates, they would need to be merged.

If you click Find Similar People on Anne Shirley's page, this similar one comes up, who was SP on the same exact day in the same temple as your Anne Shirley. https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/ordinances/MQBT-KQY

Before requesting any ordinances, unless we have done the research ourselves, it is always a good idea to look over the data thoroughly to make sure it at least makes sense.
