Sharing temple names with family

Help!

My daughter and I have been sharing family names from our temple reservations list. But there are some frustrations we are experiencing.

First: When you get an email that says you have received temple names, please keep the names on the e-mail, instead of the no further action phrase with the names gone when you accept them. We have had to take a photo of the names we send, then message each other with those temple cards and PID numbers we have shared. It would be so much easier just to have those names stay on that email for reference.

Second: I have 14 pages on my temple reservations list. When my daughter sends me names, they go to my reservation list--but where? It also shows the names have already been printed, because she printed them first, then shared.

Suggestion #2--please send the shared names to the top of someone's reservation list, with not printed under the name. It would make finding and printing the shared names so much easier.

Happy Monday everyone! I already feel better.Thank you for listening.

    Hello @JodiHansen1

You bring up some interesting points about the sharing of family names. You might consider posting your suggestions in "Ideas" in the Community.

    However, here are some thoughts:

    1. Regarding keeping the names on the email, the knowledge article indicates that when the email is received, the recipient should "Click Review Temple Names one time." "If you click it again, you see this message: 'No further action needed. This temple ordinance transfer has already been accepted. Visit your reservation list to print the ordinances request.'"
    2. When you share names with family and click Send, you have the option of reviewing the names in the "Reserved Names are Shared pop-up box." And, yes, if you already printed cards, you will need to destroy them in order to avoid duplication of ordinances. Your Temple list will show an envelope icon next to the name of the ancestor up to the point that the recipient accepts the names. Once accepted, the names disappear from your family names list.
    3. Regarding your Suggestion #2, about sending shared names to the top of the reservation list, wouldn't the names shared have the current date as the reservation date? You could filter by date reserved, descending sort.

Best wishes to you and your family as you do this important work for the dead.

    Hi @JodiHansen1

Thank you for sending your suggestions to the Community. It can be difficult to keep track of ordinances, especially when sharing them with others. The first one about the names staying in the email, might be good to add to the Ideas section here in Community. You might also wish to add the suggestion about shared names going to the top of the Temple list in the Idea section also.

As for finding the names your daughter sends you, you might wish to try using the Filters on the right of your Temple list. Date Reserved or Date expires might be helpful. Showing it as printed is confusing for us all, because it shows it even when printing fails.

Thank you again for commenting on this sharing issue.

We hope this information has been helpful.

We just did an experiment. I sent my daughter 3 names for SP. We tried the date reserved method you both suggested. No, that doesn't work. What appears is the date I originally reserved the names in 2019 and 2021. I sent the names together, each one has a reserved date that is different, and she has to hunt down the names individually in her reserved list, and they are n the mix with all the other names you have reserved from a year or so ago.

Also, when you receive names for the temple you want to reserve them right away. You click accept. Bam, you go back to check on the names you accepted, nothing is there but "no further action needed". That is really frustrating.

Thank you so much for responding,

    Jodi
