How do I change a name when the child died without having a name given to them for temple work?

How do I change the name for a child when the only information given is a birth and death date and the parents names? This child is a twin who lived less than two month and I've entered her name as "Infant" for the first name with the correct surname. The temple ordinance record shows that her sealing to parents is not possible because "this record contains one or more invalid words." The record did not indicate a first name for this child and family records do not record this child's birth, but she is listed on a public index just below her sister who did survive and went on to be a parent. I need help figuring out what I need to do so the sealing to parents can be completed. Thanks.

If you go into the record and click "CTRL+B" it'll fill in the option as <BLANK> (for indexing). I am unsure if you'll be able to do any temple work for her with that option as a blank but it wouldn't hurt to try. I do know that putting it as a blank will show that the record didn't have a name for the child before she died. I really hope this helps you finish that child's work!

    I am just a 'lowly' User/Patron ...

[ And, I happen to be a Member of the Church ... ]

    FYI

For Children, who died as "Infants", WITHOUT a 'Given' / 'Christian' Name, the "First Names" Sub-Field, in the "Name" Field, in the "Vitals" Section, SHOULD (in fact, MUST) be left "Blank"/"Empty" (ie. NOTHING).

There should NOT be anything; especially, the likes of, "Infant"; or, "Baby"; or, "Twin"; etc.

    There is NO need.

And, there is NO need to include, the 'Title' of "Miss". in the "Title" Sub-Field, in the "Name" Field, in the "Vitals" Section.

When it comes to the "Temple" Work (ie. "Sealing to Parents), for Children, who died as "Infants", WITHOUT a 'Given' / 'Christian' Name, the "System" (ie. 'FamilySearch') AUTOMATICALLY "Prints" the common honorific title of, say "(Miss)" for a "Female", on the "Temple" Card, for the "Temple" Work.

In your case, for the Child, who died as an "Infant", WITHOUT a 'Given' / 'Christian' Name ...

Simply, "Edit", the "First Names" Sub-Field, in the "Name" Field, in the "Vitals" Section, by "Deleting"/"Removing" that word of, "Infant"; and, leave that "First Names" Sub-Field; as, "Blank"/"Empty" (ie. NOTHING).

    All done.

    Now ...

IF, you have not already; THEN, "Reserve" the "Temple" Work.

Finally, "Print", the "Temple" Card; and, then, go to a "Temple" to do the Work for her.

    Good Luck.

    I hope this helps.

    Brett,

Thank you for teaching me what to do in this situation. It is not something I have run into before in the many years of doing genealogy work. I found several children born in my husband's family listed in birth records connected to his grandparents that I didn't know existed until last night. This information is helpful.
