Question about Indexing and Corporations in Hardin County Texas Deed Records

Many of the records in the set contain company/corporation names, which are not to be indexed. However, some of these companies have the name of the individual who is responsible for the sale (like a president). Should I use the name of the individual or mark blank?

US, Texas, Hardin County—Deed Records, 1840–1920[MS2J-RDT]

We have a confimed answer regarding US, Texas, Hardin County—Deed Records, 1840–1920 [MS2J-RDT]. We are to follow the PI and FH instructions.

"If the grantee was a corporation or some other kind of organization, press Ctrl+B to mark this field blank."

Even though a President or board director is listed in the document, they are not the grantee or grantor.

Hope this clarifies the correct way to index this type of documents.

You may follow the information in the PI which states: The grantor is the person or persons who are giving or selling property. The grantee is the person or persons who are receiving the property.  Also, for companies - If the grantor or grantee was a corporation or some other kind of organization, press Ctrl+B to mark the Given Names and Surname fields blank. Look at the example of the Handwritten Deed records for insights.

We would use a personal name to index if the name is given rather than the company name.

Thank you for your reply. I did read those instructions/examples which are clear if you have a company name vs. a person. My question was for when I have both. Should I ignore the individual's name who owns or runs the company as a viable option. It appears you are saying that I should use the individual's name.

We are still studying this batch, with names of companies and of name of director, vs the project instructions.

Please hold unto this batch, as we did also forward this question to our internal department for clarification.

We'd like to guide you with accurate answers, thank you for your question.

I have a follow-up question to this. Just started indexing the Hardin Co Records and found this Q&A very helpful with respect to marking the field blank or putting the president's name in. So if we have a business to business deed, do we just mark both names as blank and still index the recording date? Or does that image become "No Extractable Data"?
