request for correction of original ordinance dates for Chun ancestors
This is the second group of family records we have sent in regarding the original 1913, 1923, and 1943-48 ordinances for my Hawaiian ancestors. The first ones were sent as a FamilySearch "case" on the last day we could send cases in (June 22, 2021) before having to submit requests through Community. Those requests were located and corrected from the hand-typed ledger family group sheet we sent for the Kaluaikauai Waihoioahu (LWMH-NVY, 1830-1881) family (a copy is attached with sources of the ordinances from the Special Records Room at the Salt Lake Family History Library). Although the original stamped temple cards/sheets were not kept (it was not thought they would ever be needed); the investigating team members who worked that case found the original ones for the Waihoioahu family and were able to restore the correct original ordinances.
My own great uncle, David Keola Kailimai (1873-1940, KW88-JDN), his wife (my great aunt Martha Kamaka Kaopuni Puhi - LKVY-DWN, 1863-1933), and their family did all of the ordinances done in November 1913 while visiting in Salt Lake City from Hawaii for the purpose of doing their family's proxy temple work. The ordinances were done with the same family names as are recorded on these family group records photos which were carefully recorded by my great aunt in the old ledger family group sheets. They remained intact in FamilySearch through 2003 at least - which is when I printed the attached printed FamilySearch Family Group Records directly from FamilySearch. Since then, many of those original ordinances were "lost" for any number of reasons and many of the ordinances have already been repeated several times. We would very much like to see the correct original ordinances show for these families to help avoid more duplications of ordinance work.
We are sorry for the extra investigative work to find these old ordinances; and are truly grateful for your assistance to our family in this effort. We hope all of the files we have sent you are clearly visible to you. The .txt file has the details of these requests. Is there any other information we might provide that would help?
