Bates Family of Georgia
My family has search for many years for the ancestors of Julius Bates (L4BK-NJ3) and his siblings, General John and Elizabeth. We have found an article in the Pendleton Messenger of 1833 establishing Julius’ father as James Bates. We have Revolutionary War records confirming the article.
Someone has entered Julius’ father, into Family Search, as James Arthur Bates (LRVB-QHY). There is no source listed that confirms this entry. Also, James’ marriage to Susannah Fleming (also entered into Family Search) has no source relating it to Julius or his siblings.
We are asking for help in 1. Clearing up confusion about James Arthur and 2. Finding documentation of his real father.
