    no catalog link usage.jpg

Opening # 479 from catalog does not allow an all photo view without signing into a MSoft account for photoviewer already installed on 2-054 2nd floor

Hi @D'merrill, have you spoken with a staff member at the Family History Library to verify that they still have equipment that can use CD's? The Family History Department no longer provides nor supports any CD products for patrons nor for family history centers. Because of this, we are not certain that the Family History Library still has older equipment that can run the CD software. Please check directly with the staff for additional details.

    Absolutely.

DOS CD can be run from 2 reserve computers on B1 & B2 when the mainframe U drive will not work. IGI used to be runable in Special Collections. They still have microfische to harvest film numbers for early entries when the DOS computer crashes.

Got the 1858 London Directory to open floor 2 computer without getting weird error messages. PIX would not open in Irfan, MS viewer would not display thumbnails for navigation. Irfan started searching System 32!!! Finally got 2 of the Elder avatars just as the building was closing. Place search catalog does not help finding regional CD. There are almost 9000 database that aren't searchable currently. Church does not hold copyright to many of the CD.

EVERY COMPUTER in the FHL has a DESKTOP icon to use the CD's. It takes awhile to load the list. Sort by #/name tabs are no longer included with the list. Links from the U drive weren't active on 1st computer I tried. Links were active but not [control] +F searchable to get to Mayflower Descendants database buried in the M area of the list some 4000 down.

If you can guess the name of the database you can open from catalog link. Takes keyword search = [name] + CD

Thank you for your additional comments. We are glad you have been able to work with the Family History Library staff since FamilySearch no longer has any interaction with the use of these older CDs. We wish you success as you continue to work with the FHL staff to complete your goals.
