Sharing temple reserved names

My son tried to send me some names, through the process, I accepted them but they never appeared on my reservation list. This happened the end of June, 2021.

I tried to send some names to a niece some names. It shows an envelope by the name (indicating it was sent). My niece accepted them but they never appeared on her reservation list. What are we doing wrong? The names that have that envelope marked on them, I can only resend, I can't seem to remove that envelope and print them out for me. This happened lst part of July.

I hope you can help me. julie.eberhard60@gmail.com

    Hello Julie,

I am sorry you are having difficulty sharing these names.

One thing that may have happened with the ones your son sent, is that you only have 14 days to accept the reserved ordinances, so they may have expired. Perhaps he could resend them to you? Also are you no longer wanting to share names with your niece? If you want to print out names that have been shared, you can resend but put your own email in instead. This will enable you to accept the names and have them appear back on your list.

Below is a more detailed description for you should you need it:

    Unshare family names • FamilySearch

If you are still having difficulty sharing names in the future, perhaps the next article will be helpful. It mentions that the individual you want to share names with must have the Share Family Names turned on in their account settings, under notifications.

Share family names with family and friends • FamilySearch

I hope these suggestions resolve your problem. If not, please come back to this discussion and you can receive further assistance.

May I offer a different solution I have learned about. This works well especially when youth are doing baptisms but can't do all the other ordinances. Instead of sharing thru the temple system, I print a pdf copy of the ordinance card and send that to a family member via email. They can print the card and go to the temple and the name remains on your list. You get the notice when the ordinance is complete and then you retain control to do the remaining ordinances and you do not have to have the person share back the name to you. This system has worked well and is something to think about, if it might work for you.
