Perhaps you could post this in the ideas section rather than the Q & A section, where suggestions are offered and reviewed 😊

This has been one of the highest requested items related to FS Memories for various years now.

    Its a somehwat complex issue

a few main reasons it hasnt been implemented up till now is:

    1) the fact that a video can take many thousands of time more memory space than a single photo etc. - and thus - allowing video - would all of a sudden demand a much huger supply of storage.

    2) Sites like YOUTUBE etc are much more tuned and configured for Videos

    3) Detecting inaproprioate content (which seems to be pretty high on FS's priority liist) can be very challenging for videos - as compared to photos or text etc. (current facilities for checking inappropriate content doent work with video.

so one work around that I use - - is merely a stories item - that POINTS to a link on YOUTUBE:

    example: https://www.familysearch.org/photos/artifacts/128545977?cid=mem_copy

I really like the YouTube work-around. I would caution, however, that if you don't have an active YouTube account -- that is, one that you upload to on a regular basis -- your videos and account can just disapear without warning.

    Just so you know.

BUT with any service , yeh , you need to prepare for the unexpected.

FS Memories currently filters out hyperlinks ( but leaving the raw URL's non clickable)

FS currently does allow raw url's that are not clickable. It has been that way for many many years (if not forever)

FS has never enforced the exclusion of non clickable URL's

there are thousands and thousands of FS memories items that contain or reference URL's

the hyperlink is removed but the text of the URL remains.

the link that was used as an example is not a clickable hyperlink but requires the user to copy and paste:

    https://www.familysearch.org/photos/artifacts/128545977?cid=mem_copy

one of the most common usages of URL's in FS Memories Stories is for people to cite their source when it is an online web site. (inside the text of the story entity text)

FS Memories admins have always allowed this (use of raw URL's in Memories Stories) . and I have no reason to believe that is changing.
