Wrong information abounds
I continue to find incorrect information about my family on the FamilySearch website and it is disturbing. It is also disrespectful to the deceased.

deceased. The above page shows my grandfather, Edgar Freelin Loar being the son of Isabelle Ferguson and Hamon Benton Loar. He was NOT.
He is the son of Oliver Loar and Frances Hager. I have already dealt with wrong information on your website that said I was deceased. That caused
some problems. Please do something about verifying information.

The Change Log for Edgar Freelin Loar shows that the error in his parents was created in one of the older database systems that predated Family Tree since it came into Family Tree in the initial import into it in the spring of 2012. This may have occurred in the previous database, New Family Search, or even earlier.
The main thing to keep in mind is that while FamilySearch is providing the software and platform, the data in Family Tree which as been combined from several different databases is primarily from two sources: user contributed data and extracted data from historical records. FamilySearch does not confirm or check in any way any of the user contributor data and never has. It is strictly for us users to confirm and correct all the data in Family Tree.
Unfortunately, since this error in parents was made in a prior database, there is no way you can find out who made the error and contact that user.
Do continue to check all the information on your ancestors and family and correct it as needed. The quality of the data here is strictly up to us.
