Explain what information should be included in questions posted to the "Temple" section

It appears that many questions in this forum about being "moved" to other locations.... while this may take care of that individual's question, it isn't helpful for others in attempting to know what information should be listed in the questions posted.

The knowledge document indicates not to list temple ordinances in discussions on FamilySearch.... the postings in this group seem to going against that information. https://www.familysearch.org/help/helpcenter/article/temple-ordinances-and-patriarchal-blessings-in-discussions

As a director at a Family History Center, it was really easy to help persons in making a case through feedback in relation to all things relating to temple ordinances. This seemed to be a great way to keep "private" things "private."

Now I am struggling to know how to assist patrons when attempting to get clarification in relation to ordinances pertaining to their family members.

Is it okay to list the ID's of the persons for whom one is seeking information about their temple ordinances?

Is it okay to list the issue with the temple ordinances? i.e. not showing the correct parents with the sealing to parents, ghost parents showing with the sealing date, etc.

Would it be permissible to just make a posting indicating a personal message would be preferred as to discuss the nature of sacred ordinances?

    Since FamilySearch is no longer using SalesForce to process temple Ordinance problems it is being done in FamilySearch Community. If Temple Ordinance dates are missing incorrect, unavailable, etc. you should list the the name of the person, the id number, and your relationship. Do not enter any personal information such as contact information, user name, helper number, etc. You will be contacted by personal message by the FamilySearch Missionaries working these issues if they need further information from you. Once they start working the issue it is closed in FamilySearch Community and worked by them. You will be also be contacted by them once the issue is resolved.

    You are correct that discussions about the Temple itself or the Ordinance work done their should not be discussed in this forum!

    Thank myou so much for myour concern and for myour assistance to the npatrons using your Family History Center your work is greatly appreciated.

    Would it be possible to do a "pinned" post at the top of the temple section with this information so others understand what it expected (or acceptable) in their questions/discussions?

    Seems to be when answers like this get buried in the list of discussions, it isn't at effective as pinned post at the top would be.

    @Tamara Stevenson

    Tamara

    I am just another 'lowly' User/Patron ...

    [ And, I am a Member of the Church ... ]

    Aside from what has already been proffered ...

    'Yes', it certainly can be MORE "Challenging" when it comes to "Temple" Work ...

    Here is my take ...

    Please let me explain ...

    [ And, I am very "Verbose", that is just my 'style' ... ]

    FYI

    Just some BACKGROUND here ...

    It is the same place as we used to:

    Help ---> Contact Us ...

    Contact Us _ Where _ NOW _ 0 _ 15 July 2021.jpg

    Which, when selected, NOW results in this:

    Contact Support

    https://www.familysearch.org/help/helpcenter/article/contact-familysearch-support

    https://www.familysearch.org/help/helpcenter/article/contact-familysearch-support

    Which is a "Knowledge Article" (in the "Help Centre") of 'FamilySearch'.

    With 'Direction', to "Links" to, BOTH,

    (1) this "Community.FamilySearch" Forum;

    and/or,

    (2) ability to contact 'FamilySearch' "Support" (Directly), by either, "Telephone"; and, a "Live" ("On-Line') "Chat.

    But ...

    That Said ...

    There is currently NO option to contact 'FamilySearch' "Support" through a "Send a 'Message" (ie. a "Private" communication), like we used to; whereby, one automatically created a 'FamilySearch' "Support" Case.

    The 'FamilySearch' "Support" Cases have GONE - never to be resurrected,

    Our "My Cases" have GONE, you CANNOT 'view' or 'access', your previous 'FamilySearch' "Support" Cases, any longer. Again, GONE - never to be resurrected.

    The NEW idea/thinking being that ...

    In the FIRST instance ...

    IF, you have, a simple basic 'Question'; or, just want some "Generic" Help/Assistance; THEN, you go to the "Community.FamilySearch" Forum (I will explain this below).

    Whereas ...

    In the SECOND instance ...

    IF, you have, a more complex, specific Problem/Issue, that needs the intervention of 'FamilySearch' "Support"; and, you DO NOT want to make such "Public"; THEN, you go and contact 'FamilySearch' "Support" (Directly), by either, "Telephone"; and, a "Live" ("On-Line') "Chat; and, deal directly with 'FamilySearch' "Support" Personnel.

    Now ...

    That Said ...

    'FamilySearch' "Support" has just been ADDED to, or, I should say, INCLUDED into, the "Community.FamilySearch" Forum - this is ONLY recent.

    The "Community.FamilySearch" Forum has been operating for a number of Years; and, was about:

    Users/Patrons, HELPING, Users/Patrons ...

    Users/Patrons, HELPING, Users/Patrons, HAS been (and, WAS) successfully working/operating, just fine.

    There was NO 'FamilySearch' "Support" involvement ...

    That has NOW 'Abruptly' CHANGED ...

    And ...

    As Such ...

    The WHOLE way, that we INTERACT, with 'FamilySearch' "Support", has NOW 'Abruptly' CHANGED ...

    It is a whole NEW process.

    Here is where it gets interesting ...

    We CAN raise, more complex, specific Problems/Issues, that needs the intervention of 'FamilySearch' "Support", in the "Public" nature of the "Community.FamilySearch" Forum.

    And, hopefully such, more complex, specific Problems/Issues, that needs the intervention of 'FamilySearch' "Support", WILL be, garnered/taken aside, 'Off-Line', out of "Public" access/view, by 'FamilySearch' "Support" to be dealt with "Privately" (with the particular User/Patrons who raised the matter).

    Now ...

    As you are aware, this is a whole NEW Process ...

    EVERYONE is getting used to this whole NEW Processing, none more so that those Personnel of 'FamilySearch' "Support".

    There ARE 'teething' Problems/Issues, they are being addressed/fixed; as, they are encountered and identified.

    It is a whole 'brave new world' ... we are all still 'learning the ropes'.

    ==========

    Now ...

    All that Said ...

    Specifically in regard to problems/issues relating to "Temple" Work ...

    Apart from contacting 'FamilySearch' "Support" DIRECTLY, by either, "Telephone"; and, a "Live" ("On-Line') "Chat; and, dealing directly with 'FamilySearch' "Support" Personnel ...

    Another option is to raise "Temple" Work matters, in this "Community.FamilySearch" Forum, in the "Q and A" Section, under the 'Category' of "Temple".

    IF, you DO NOT want to make specific DEATILS about your particular matter "Public"; THEN, the best thing to do, is to simply give a very "Generic" precis of the matter, void of identifying the individuals/persons concerned; and, REQUEST the "Private" contact from 'FamilySearch' "Support" Personnel.

    As I advised, hopefully such WILL be, garnered/taken aside, 'Off-Line', out of "Public" access/view, by 'FamilySearch' "Support" to be dealt with you "Privately", through "Private" 'Messaging' in this "Community.FamilySearch" Forum (or, maybe, by direct "E-mail").

    Here is the direct link that "Temple" category ...

    "Q and A" Section

    'Category' = "Temple"

    ==========

    I know I write too much ...

    But ...

    I hope this helps; and, gives you some ideas; and, perspective.

    Brett
