Would like permission to do temple work for one of my ancestors

My ex-husband gave me permission in 2015 to do the work for his older brother, JOHN JOSEPH JEROME, LKYX-XRB. My ex-husband has since died. I would still like to do this work.

This article explains how to request permission to do the temple work for people who are not related. Unfortunately, the fact that your ex-husband gave verbal permission before he passed away won't do. If his older brother had a wife and/or any children who are still living, and if you could get written permission from one of them, you could scan it and send it to FamilySearch as an attachment. There is a link in this article to another article entitled, Requesting temple ordinances for a friend, that has the complete instructions.

I have several temple cards from my husband family which were sent by his cousin for us to do the temple ordinances, we started working on them and like to continue working on them but due to pandemic, we cannot do it ourselves alone. we would like to ask the temple matrons to complete the work. Please help. Thank you.

Thank you for the additional information. The expiration date on the cards will be extended 90 days past the date listed, because of Covid. So you have some time. After the the following applies.
Reserved ordinances automatically expire on the date listed on your family names list. After that, they are shared with the temple, and other people can reserve them. So you could reserve them from the Shared with the Temple list after they expire. The article link below has additional information.
We hope this information is helpful.
