reviewing burial index of nameless & parentless child

I am reviewing Middlesex burial records. The entry in the burial records for April 12th 1747 says "a child found dead in field". The original indexer has created a record with every field except the date blanked. Should this record be kept or deleted?

I seem to remember that something similar may have been asked before but I am unable to access any of the previous discussions (including my own) since the change from indexing chat. I just get the screen which says I do not have permission to do this, a problem which has been pointed out by others.

Sheena

Just after posting this I found a similar entry, this time it says "a poor man". Since sex can be entered, does this record remain in the index?

Hi Sheena! Good to see you again and I miss our Indexing Chats! Hopefully they will be able to fix this so a search will bring up those thousands of great answers that were provided in the past years.

I think the records would be indexed with all the available fields indexed and the primary name rendered blank. Previously, in Obituary indexing, we were told to index records that had no names but dates and sometimes places or gender.

The instructions for the Middlesex Parish records:

    • If a record does not include a name for the primary person, you should still index the record, marking the primary name fields blank and indexing other names, such as names of the parents, along with any other fields that are present on the record.
