We have an elderly sister that has her genealogy database in Roots Magic, version 7. Her database contains 47,000 individuals of which approximately 6,000 are indicated to be in FamilySearch already. What is the most efficient way to compare the 41,000 individuals with the FamilyTree and add those that don't already exist, into the tree? If it is through the use of gedcom files, how many names can a gedcom file hold? How would you recommend that we break down the tree into manageable gedcom files. Appreciate any help you can give in resolving in this enormous task and endevor.

I prefer to use the Rootsmagic database— FamilySearch compare process. Please consult Rootsmagic support for further information.

No matter which option she chooses, adding the names requires some interaction on her part.

if she uses a GedCom to add them to Family Tree it is recommended to include no more than 100 names at a time.

This help article has more information about using a GedCom to add information to Family Tree.
