on indexing middlesex england registers

I have been indexing England Middlesex registers and have noticed that on Baptisms, marriages, and deaths; that only the female has a prefix. Not a maiden name is sought for but a prefix. This can only be a miss or a mrs. But the men do not have a prefix, and I have run across Lords, Earls, Esquires, seniors and juniors, I, II, III additions to their names. Why do you have it set up this way?

The indexes are set up as requested by the record owners and the index is to take people to the image where they would see the further details. Indexes will never have everything in a record.

Here is an article on indexing titles for nobility and royalty. It may be somewhat helpful with the Lords, Ladies, Earls, Dames, etc. It will not be of use for Jr, Sr, etc. but, the indexing of those titles seems to have fallen by the wayside on most projects in recent years. I don't believe we ever indexed occupational titles like Esquire, MD, PhD, etc.

We do index the maiden name of the mothers in these Middlesex records when it is on the image. This is outlined in the field helps.
