I need help to access a piece of information available in "Uruguay, Índice del Registro Civil, 1900-1937", database, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:QG3V-29JZ : 9 January 2019), José Domingo Galiano Gorlero, 1930.

I am Brazilian and I went to the Family Center located in Niterói, Rio de Janeiro and they couldn't access the image.

The chat Agent suggested asking for help from you.

Thanks,

Monica Galeano

I have not looked at your record set, but in general terms due to computer system restraints, FamilySearch Centres do not have the ability to show restricted digitised microfilms for about three months from the beginning of June 2021.

This is shown in a banner across the top of the following webpage about FamilySearch Centres

    https://www.familysearch.org/help/fhcenters/locations

which in turn links to this page

    https://www.familysearch.org/help/helpcenter/article/public-access-to-limited-access-collections-in-family-history-centers

In my view, it doesn't reflect well on the knowledge / training of the Family History Centre or the Chat Agent that they could not advise you on this.

When I try to access this record, I get a message saying it is accessible from a Family History Center or an Affiliate Library. Affiliate Libraries are public libraries that have a partnership with FamilySearch. You could contact libraries and museums in your area and ask if they are a FamilySearch Affiliate Library.

As Maureen said, for three months the computer systems at Family History Centers are not working due to maintenance. However in the meantime, there is a service that allows you to request that FamilySearch Staff in Salt Lake City lookup records for you.
