William Bird Need Info
Hi everyone,
I'm trying to find information on my 3 x Great Grandfather, William Bird. I don't know much about him at all. I know he had a child with Alzana Prine. That child was my 2 x Great Grandmother, Amanda Bird, who later married George Ellis Barnett. There are many different spelling variations of Alzana Prine's name. I have tried several different variations of spelling for Alzana in hopes that a marriage record, or another record that connects her to William Bird would show up. I can't find any kind of birth record at all for Amanda Bird. So there may not be one that exists. Amanda's death record has her father listed with just the surname Bird and that he was born in Scotland. I found a marriage record for Amanda Bird, where she lists that her father's name is William Bird. I'm guessing that William may have been born around 1840 due to when Amanda was born. Alzana Prine was approximately 19 years of age when Amanda was born. I did find a Civil War Record for a William Bird from Missouri and this William Bird had died in the war. However, I'm not sure if it's the same William Bird or not. I'm looking for ideas for records to search that I might not have thought of yet. Or looking to find out if anyone here knows anything about William Bird. They lived in Cass County, Missouri when Amanda was born. Amanda Bird was born, 14 September 1865 in Austin, Cass, Missouri. Her Family Search profile is L2XL-576. Amanda Bird married, George Ellis Barnett on 13 June 1880. Out of that union came one son, William Claude Barnett, who is my Great Grandfather. I have tried looking at Census records to see if I could find any families with the Surname Bird, or a William Bird, living near Alzana Prine around the same time that Amanda may have been concieved or was born with no luck. He's a very big mystery that I'm still trying to solve.

@SumnerTamara I took a look at the work you've done on the family members you mentioned. I found a previously unattached record for your 2G-grandparents and her half-brother in the 1910 census but was unable to find anything that would help you identify more about William Bird or the unknown Baker. Since all of the Missouri counties that your 3G-grandmother seemed to live in (Cass, Vernon, Jackson, & Buchanan) straddled the border with Kansas, I also did a preliminary search of Kansas records as well. I didn't identify anything yet but that may be worth a further look if that's not something you've already done.
