I am so confused...

Maybe you can shed some light....

My great grandfather was Joe Jordan Renfro, Sr. born Feb. 6th 1893.

His daughter, my grandmother, Elois Renfro Brown (now deceased) always told me the Renfro's took her dad in adopted (Joe Jordan). Through the years we discovered Mary Susan West was his bio mom and Armistead Baughn was thought to be his bio dad and they weren't married. However, on my great grandfathers death certificate it does list John Renfro as his dad and Mary S. West as his mom. Nothing seems to add up according to research she and Armistead married 11.6.1894. Then I saw marriage to wrong man. I am just trying to figure out the John, Mary Susan, and Armistead connection. I am knew to this research so any info email to me at [email protected] My name is Stephanie Wood. I am sending you this message, but not sure if you responded if I would see it as I said I am knew to this research thing, that is why I have given you my email address. Any light you could shed would be appreciated. I also see that Susie Baughn married John Renfro(w) in 1897. So did she divorce Armstead and marry John and it appears 2 more children followed with John and Susie Renfro. The names involved are John Renfro, Mary Susan West, Armstead Baughn and Susie Baughn Renfro (w). It appears Mary Susan West married Armstead in 1893.

Cannot answer the puzzle about the triangle between John, Joe, and Armistead but there is a person who may be able to help you at FamilySearch and the account: Joe Jordan Renfro Sr L6G3-F5B. There is a person who has entered the information about the adoption who you may contact and ask her for her source. This will help you to locate the tree information:

There are lots of historical records waiting to be attached to all these persons. Start by examining all these records for more information, attaching them, and polishing the person profiles.

Then evaluate all the evidence. Genealogy based on family history and original documents traces only the paper trail. For situations where the original documentation may contain false information, your next step would be DNA analysis.
