Searching for those related to you

There needs to be a filter option where you can search for people related to you only not just anyone on FamilySearch. I am trying to find someone specific and the general search of all of FamilySearch is making it impossible to find this person.

I usually find an individual quite quickly, by one of two methods. Firstly, I add all those individuals I feel might be of interest to me in future to my "Following" list (by clicking on "Follow" at the top right corner of their page). Secondly, I use the FIND section: type in the relative's name and some detail (birth year range and place of birth, etc.) and add other information / use "Exact match" check boxes to narrow your results.

The nature of Family Tree means there is an assumption that we are all related to some degree. The problem is with how to specify which relatives you wish to be included in your search, when there is just the one tree without any effective divisions.
