How can Sealing to Spouse be complete but no other ordinances?

I just found a relative who has the Sealing to Spouse marked complete as of Jan 2020 but none of the other ordinances are complete. All of the other ordinances have a Request button beside them. How can that be? What can I do about it? Thanks in advance.

Hi, There is a good article that describes why this may have happened. Some of the reasons include

• The names came from an extracted record. For example, if the name was extracted from a marriage record, only the marriage information was available. At the time, only the sealing to spouse was performed. The remaining ordinances were done later. They may even still need to be done.
• The ordinances were inadvertently or intentionally performed out of order in error.
• The person's ordinances may have been done multiple times. Family Tree displays the earliest ordinance date for each ordinance. The earliest date may be on a duplicate record for that person. You can fix this problem by merging the duplicate records.

There is nothing that needs to be done about it. Another article (given below) states that the ordinances are valid, but not in effect until the pre-requisite ordinances are complete.

Another reason this could happen is because of the new Ordinance Ready Program. A sealing to spouse can be brought up and completed before the other ordinances are completed. Like the article says these ordinances are valid but not in effect until the pre-requisite ordinances are completed.
