Not sure how to read occupation on Virginia birth regsiter
Hi! I'm indexing this batch: US, Virginia—Birth Records, 1853–1900[M3Q6-ZF6] and do not know what to put in the field "occupation" for quite a few of the lines. It looks like corn lab! Any suggestions? Thanks!

Corn Lab (Corn Laborer) might be right.
The surname on Line 1 is West. The child is Virginia West and the father is Jno West. Jno is an abbreviation for John or Johannes or Jonathan. But, we don't expand abbreviations on names. I would index the 3rd father as Wash Bailey
You don't use the information in the header to index the county or city information. Field Help: Do not index the county listed in the header of the register.
