How can Indexed records get corrected?

I noticed that some of the indexed records for Portugal (births and marriages, specifically) have the wrong data, i.e. does not match the data on the original record. For example, there were some records where the birth year is wrong (by like 10 years). In another one, the person's name on the records is written as "ANNA DE SA" but the indexed record has "ANNA DE SOUSA."

What is the process to get indexed records corrected?

"You can edit incorrectly indexed names, dates, and places on some record collections. Editable fields can vary based on the location and language of the user, and any restrictions associated with the collection."

Here is the link to the help article that tells you how to correct indexing errors that others have made:

Thanks. I am talking about records that I have not edited. Someone else created the index records and the names are wrong. The EDIT button is greyed out.

Here is another article that can help to answer your question. You may have already looked at this article that was within the article that Melissa posted for you. It is frustrating when for some reason we are not able to edit the indexed record. You probably have already done this but you can make sure that you put a detailed note in the vital information for the name and also a note can be put in the record hint: After you attach the record you can go to "Sources" and "view source" and click on "View" and put a note in there as to the correct name or other information. Good notes are everything. Also this quote in the article that Melissa shared that you probably read: "Consider keeping a personal list of any indexing errors that can't be fixed. You can correct them later when more correction options become available. Thank you for your patience as we work to resolve this challenge."
