I need suggestions for where to look for a birth record.
I am searching for the birth record of my great great great grandfather, George Lemon.
On an Iowa census record he indicted his birthdate was 1834 -35 and he was born in Pennsylvania. His parents were born in Germany.
I have tried Church records from hundreds (counties) in Pennsylvania but have been unable to pin down any birth records that fit the criteria given on the census record.
George Lemon does not appear on an 1850 census as a child with parents but as a laborer living in another household so I can't get assumed parent names that way.
Can anyone suggest a way I can find a birth record that lists parents?

Chances are that a christening or other kind of birth record for that early in Pennsylvania does not exist, but there are other ways to find parents. Where do you find him living as a laborer in 1850?

He is in Illinois by 1850. I have checked all the families in the area (small villages) where I found him in 1850 and did find some Lemons but have no way to know if they are connected. One family looked promising but the adults listed parent's birthplace as Ireland--not Germany. It seems to be a pretty common name.

Generally in the 1800's, men courted women living within a few miles of each other. In 1850, do you find George living in the same county where his wife's family lived?
