I assume you were referrring to the surname origin pages
what surname were you referring to?
You really have to take this info with a grain of salt . . .
1) Not all people with the exact same surname spelling necessarily have a common origin - and thus a common meaning of their surname, As an example the name SMITH has thousands of disjoint family groups - that dont have a common origin - - and not everyone with surname Smith - had ancestors who got that name because they were blacksmiths or the sort.
2) Surname Origins - are a very very huge generalization. and often times even an educated guess.
Dont think that the name origin certainly applies to your family - withotu doing yoru own research to see if things add up.
3) Name origin books often group similarly spelled family surnames together - under a common name origin explanation - even when there is no proof that the names have common origin.
4) Migrations have occured over time - realizes that an English name - could have been carried on a German country for various generations.
Rather than some Name origin book - first hand research on primary sources - rerlated to your very specific ancestors - carries hundreds of time more weight - than some possibly wild guess in some name origin book.

As stated in my request. ..... I was talking about what the "name means" in English box. I want to know what it means in German sense that is where My family linage is from. I don't care what it means in English. The original spelling is Mugge with two dots over the u. I had my maiden name in parentheses..... "Muggy" because that is the Surname name I was looking up, also less than half of the "Muggy" names I had in the familysearch program were even mentioned. Was wondering why they all weren't listed?

also FamilySearch is not comprehensive
There are many names that are not yet in the database.
its up to people like you and me - to submit them.
If you dont find them in FamilySearch Family Tree - please add them.

they probably all dont.
