For the last 30 years, I have done a one-name-study of a fairly rare surname (4,000 individual records in the tree). I would like to be able to search for individuals of this surname who have NO father listed. Is this possible? This search would allow me to find all of the "orphan" records and work to link them to the main tree.

I also have a very rare surname in one of my branches. There are just 28 instances of it in Family Tree. Optimistically, I used the FIND function's "Exact" feature - leaving the parents' names blank, but checking the "Exact" boxes against the respective first and last names. Not surprisingly, this still produced the same 28 results.

Unless there is a way of exporting your list to, say, Excel, then to perform a search based on the "parents' columns" being empty I don't see how you can reduce your list in the manner you require.

As you can surmise, I know little about databases, but just testing to see if another user can produce an answer something along these lines!
