Reference page +1 indexed. What to do as a Reviewer

Hello

I am reviewing batch MSGT-T77 the UK Eng Middx Parish Registers 1539-1988 Part B and find that the batch has not been indexed. The +1 image has been. Seems a shame to waste that. What do I do?

Could I add entries before it and index the Batch itself, thereby keeping the +1 indexed image?

Thank you

Pamela

Since the +1 Image was a reference image and not in the batch, you should have deleted all of those entries and then indexed the correct one. The next reviewer should catch that and delete those. But, honestly, if an indexer misses every record in a batch, you should send the batch back for reindexing. You should also use the "Reasons to Reindex Batch" which is found in the Lab section to alert FamilySearch that the indexer needs some help. To use form, with the batch open, click on help, click on Labs, you will see the information about activating the form.

It is the rare occasion when we need to send a batch back for reindexing. But, here are some reasons to return a batch for reindexing:

    • The indexer only indexed a couple of records out of many on the image or marked many blank that should not be.
    • The indexer marked an image as having no extractable data, but the image has many records to index.
    • None of the information that the indexer entered matches the information on the image.

Thank you for working on this project! Yes, you can go ahead and index all the people on the page by creating more entries and entering the information. With any batch that is reviewed and more than 20% is changed, a third person will also review that batch.

Thank you - I indexed the Batch Image 1 by adding entries at the end of the indexed +1 Image which I reviewed.

    I then submitted it.

    Thank you Aldine

Thank you Melissa. It's good to know that.

Next time I get something like that I will know what to do. We are all learning.

Glad to be able to help, Pamela. I was lucky to have a bunch of mentors who answered what seemed to be my hundreds of questions. Soon you will be doing the same for the next group of new web-indexers!

    Happy Indexing!

    Melissa
