Can't use bold text when adding comments or ideas

Why isn't the bolding option functioning to emphasize text when adding comments or ideas? Using bold is one of the options, however, it is not functioning. Please have the Admins for Communities correct this problem. Thank you!

This is a very good question, I wish that support had an answer for it, they have been asked.

Thanks for verifying that you have noticed this problem. It is not FamilySearch support that provides an answer, however. I have been told that it is the Community Administrators that must find this comment and answer this question. I look forward to their response which is why I provided my comments here. 👍️

FYI
That "Bold" option DID work, perfectly fine, in the "Beta" ("Test") Environment for the NEW "Vanilla" Platform of the "Community.FamilySearch" Forum ...
But ...
That said ...
But, for WHATEVER reason that "Bold" option is NOT working in the "Production" ("Live") Environment for the NEW "Vanilla" Platform of the "Community.FamilySearch" Forum.
Whereas ...
The other options (ie. Italics; Strikethrough; Smaller Font; &, Add Link/URL) ALL seem to be working just fine in the "Production" ("Live") Environment for the NEW "Vanilla" Platform of the "Community.FamilySearch" Forum.
That working of that "Bold" option is definitely something that 'FamilySearch' needs to investigate and rectify.
Just my thoughts.

FYI
We CANNOT do what we used to be able to do in the OLD (2nd. version/iteration) of the "IDEAS" 'Feedback' Forum; NOR, the OLD "Community.FamilySearch" Forum, which was to "Add" MULTIPLE "Categories" to an "Idea"/'Praise".
But...
That said ...
We can NOW "Add" MULTIPE "Tags" to an "Idea" ...
Whereas ...
I am NOT certain, if adding additional "Tags", ALSO "Registers" an "Idea" in MULTIPLE "Categories" (ie. "Across" MULTIPE "Topics") in this NEW ( 3rd. version/iteration) of this "IDEAS" 'Feedback' Forum.
Cheryl ...
Can I humbly suggest two (x2) options ...
Firstly ...
IF, you can STILL "Edit" (ie. the "Gear Cog", in the TOP 'right-hand-side' of) THIS post of yours; THEN, can I suggest that you try to "Add" these MULTIPLE "Tags", just on the 'off chance' (ie. better exposure):
▬ FHD Internal Feedback ... [ FHD = Family History Department ]
▬ Help and Feedback
▬ How To's
▬ New Feature!
▬ Other
▬ What Is This
Secondly ...
In addition to the aforementioned ...
Add/Put a DUPLICATE "Copy" of this post of your; but, this next time, under the "Category" of "FamilySearch Community" ...
You never know ...
Nothing ventured, nothing gained ...
Just my thoughts.

FYI
After some "Comments" that I have added to other posts; and, some "Testing" ...
I have just found out that even though the "Bold" option is used (ie. Selected) , you do not 'see' the 'Bolded' "Text", either, when applied or later; but, when I "Refreshed" the [various] page(s)/screen(s) that I was working with, the 'Bolded' "Text" INITALLY appears for a few Seconds; and, then, the 'Bolding' disappeared.
This is a FAULT/FLAW that NEEDS to be ADDRESSED/FIXED by 'FamilySearch' in this "Production" ("Live") Environment for the NEW "Vanilla" Platform of the "Community.FamilySearch" Forum .
Just letting you know.

I find that a rather strange response to you Cheryl. The "B" for Bold icon is there but is not working. I find it really, really difficult to understand how and why the Community Admins would be given the ability to switch the icon off but leave it there on the tool-bar. And since it doesn't work anywhere that I've tried it, surely the activation must be way above their role - i.e. it's FS Support - or the team within FS Support that looks after the Community software.

@Brett . Did your comments on this thread ever show up?

Adrian Bruce, as the new Community Platform was rolled out, information regarding how to get support specifically related to Community issues was to be directed to the Community, not to the general FamilySearch Support staff since the Community is maintained by its own support team. Please verify this for yourself by asking how to get support for any issue you note when working in one of the Community Groups. I believe that is why there are two ways to provide feedback when you are at the FamilySearch site. If you click to go to the Discussion Board, you are directed to the Community for answers and discussion. If you click to report a problem, a case is created that goes only to a FamilySearch Support agent who may be the only one who sees that case. It seems it would be preferable to work within the Community to solve Community issues. I have followed threads previously where responses come from system administrators, engineers, and program developers as well as other users who have noticed the same problems. Thank you so much for sharing your understanding of how support for the Communities works. Perhaps we will get additional comments that will be helpful. 😊

@Anne LoForte Willson, Brett will not be able to answer the question about whether his comment showed up as he can see his comments, it is others who cannot see his comments. I do not see his comments in this thread, but I can see my own (probably not significant to this discussion of others being able see his comments), and obviously yours, as well as those by CherylBurk1 and Adrian Bruce1.
@Adrian Bruce1, @CherylBurk1, I have been told by FS Support to direct reports of problems with the community through the Q and A section/feature of the Community. I find that to be somewhat ridiculous as there is not a FamilySearch Community category in the Q and A section so they can only be placed in the one of the Other categories of which I am not sure why there are two and which one should be used to report problems. To my way of thinking FamilySearch Community should have its own category. Reporting Community problems using the Ideas feature has the same problem there is no category just for the Community.
One message from FS Support indicated that community problems should be reported through the How to Use FamilySearch Community category, and in the Community Hub Caleb Love posted the message Where to Post Community Problems and Ideas, which says to post problems inside the community in the "How to Use FamilySearch Community" category. The problem with that is that it is not listed in the groups listings as it was in the previous version of the Community. Unless you have bookmarked his post you have to know that to get to the "How to Use FamilySearch Community" category you must go to the Community Home page and select it from the selector box on the right side of the page that alternates between Community Hub and How to Use FamilySearch Community.

"I have been told by FS Support to direct reports of problems with the community through the Q and A section/feature of the Community. I find that to be somewhat ridiculous as there is not a FamilySearch Community category in the Q and A section ..."
I agree with the ridiculousness. Given the contradictions, I have a distinct impression that either it's not been thought through or different people understand different things by "Q&A".
As for FS Support telling us to use the Community, I regard that as shockingly unprofessional. It says "FamilySearch" at the top of any Community screen. Therefore my default port of call for any Support question anywhere on the entire site will be FamilySearch Support. If our front-line support staff had shrugged off responsibility for a company system, there would have been ructions...
Things like Bolding not working are not "How-to" queries nor improvement suggestions - they are bugs. I can see that community level admins will be doing things like setting up groups and questions about what groups, etc, should indeed be directed through the community. But, as I've said, given that Bolding fails everywhere, that has to be a technical issue and therefore outside the core competencies of Community Admins. Unless FS has put a load of technicians into the Community, which is a bit confusing.
